2019 EID OUTFIT IDEAS: Images, Video and Styling Tips!

The most wonderful time of the year is back, and with that comes the inevitable question; what are you wearing for Eid? On that note, with the help of my wonderful Canal Walk family, I made my way to the mall to shop some looks to make planning your outfit easier. Whether you get one of these exact outfits or take some styling inspiration from it, there were so many options in the mall that day I seriously had to curb myself!

Aside from these pics and suggestions, scroll to the very end of the post to check out these looks in motion in my latest lookbook video.

LOOK 1: Lovely in Layers

A feminine flowing dress is always a good option, and if you’re in winter like we are here in SA, it’s so easy to find a slim fit turtleneck make sleeveless evening wear more halaal in an instant. This pretty number is from South African designer, Leigh Schubert at The Space. If R2450 is a little over your budget, don’t fret just yet! YDE has stunning and extensive range of evening dresses that honestly don’t get enough credit (they’re often a little short for me to pull off as full-length though because I’m really tall), and I find a turtleneck underneath is a nice way to tone it down for day-time formal. This turtleneck was R250 from H&M, made in a semi formal-friendly fabric and is available in black, burgundy and ivory.

LOOK 2: Shine On

What’s Eid without a little bling? I fell head over heels for this sparkly H&M jumpsuit (retailing for R629)! I love that it doesn’t cling, the fabric is heavy and looks expensive, and overall it is SO comfortable. The waist band is elasticated too, making a wonderful allowance for the inevitable food coma when lunch time rolls around. If you’re a gal who loves her sparkles, this is a stunning piece to keep in your closet long-term. Once again, the turtleneck is R250 from H&M. I completed the ensemble with a classic pair of pointed ankle boots from Woolworths and a wide leather belt by Amanda Laird Cherry. Finally, my hoops and turban made me feel like a real old-school diva!

LOOK 3: Dapper Dame

We love a good black-and-white moment, and it seems almost natural to break it with a pop of colour, a print or both! I find this Eid look as fun as it is unique and also practical; this H&M jumpsuit (retailing for R799) is a stunning hero item that you could dress up or down, and it’s great for the office too! The cinched waist creates a beautiful hourglass shape while the relaxed fit makes it super comfortable. I can’t decide if my stylish-but-strict grandmothers would have scolded me or applauded me for my hat-meet-headscarf combo and if it’s traditionally Eid-appropriate, but personally, I love it! Also the times are changing. What are your thoughts on this one?

LOOK 4: Golden Girl

There’s nothing like a little Labarang gold, am I right? This simple yet striking combo is another example of how an evening dress over a turtleneck can make a polished and sophistacated statement.

LOOK 5: Suit Up

No matter which season you’re in, suits are EVERYWHERE right now, and rightly so! Whether you mix your own one like I did here (blazer and trousers are both Forever 21), or go for a matching set, they can be mixed and matched as separates with other pieces in your wardrobe, both formally and informally. If you’re looking for more suits, check out Woolies for a more medium-priced suit, or C-Squared & Fabiani Women if you have a bigger budget.

And that’s it for now! Which of these five looks is your favourite? Check them out in motion in the video below.
