You may have noticed Clinique’s international philanthropic #DifferenceMaker campaign doing its rounds on social media, and I’m so happy to be a part of pushing the campaign and doing my part for it locally! If you’re wondering what it’s all about, in a nutshell, Clinique believes one small change can really make a difference in someone’s life. The campaign is aimed to encourage women to pay it forward and contribute to absolutely any cause they believe in, and sharing their story online with the #DifferenceMaker hashtag.
For me personally, I’ve chosen to donate some of my clothing to those in need, as well as buying feminine toiletries, for the simple reason that I know from my personal experience, the difference those two things can make in everyday life. Something as simple as feeling good in an outfit can give you the confidence to pursue a better life, or quite obviously, clothing can keep you warm. As for feminine toiletries, don’t we as women all love to feel clean and amazing? Those little things restore a dignity that so many of us don’t realise is a luxury. I particularly plan to focus further on purchasing sanitary towels because honestly, have you ever wondered what the homeless do when they get their period? As I type this I’m on day two in bed, with the most excruciating cramps ever (it hasn’t been this bad in a really long time). I honestly can’t imagine what I would do if I were on the streets now.
Being a part of this campaign and choosing to empathise with those in need has really put things into perspective for me. I have bought so much that I don’t need, I’m sent so many items of clothing that I don’t need. So today I’m sharing just a few memorable moments I’ve had over the years in some of the items I will be donating. I remember each of those days so clearly, and how happy and confident looking good made me feel! As fickle as some may argue fashion is, it has the power to transform someone’s opinion of themselves, which really could lead to great things for that person.
I hope you’ll all join myself and Clinique in whatever cause you believe in. No matter the contribution, a little truly can go a long way.
