The Tourist

I NEVER do this. I never dress like a tourist when I travel, I never buy souvenir t-shirts. I buy magnets okay? In fact, I have never ever in life bought a fitted crew-neck t-shirt, until this day at Oktoberfest. You see, I was pulled out to do this trip at the last minute, literally, and as a result, did not get the traditional Drindel dresscode memo. During this annual event, festival-goers don the traditional German Drindel attire, the men in genuine suede jodhpurs and shirts, the women in smocked dresses, blouses and pinafores. I don’t do tourist. I do local. And I felt very left out because it was too late for me to prepare for these fesitivities like a local. Drindel FOMO. However, I didn’t want to be totally left out either so I had no choice other than to be a tourist. Picked up this baseball tee (which I actually really like by the way), rocked my backpack and draped ze camera around my neck and went into full-on visitor mode. Next mission: make the moonbag look good… xx

I only found out I was going to Munich about 12 hours before my flight. Furthermore, I’d never really known what Oktoberfest was! I wikipediaed that ish, and found out it’s the biggest beerfest and fun fair in the world, dates back over a century, and is the original festival that inspired all the other October Festivals in the world. A Stroll in Munich’s English Garden

Ray Ban aviators from smartbuyglasses, Pick ‘n Pay Clothing scarf, vintage leather jacket, Bershka skirt, American Apparel backpack, Primark boots.
This was going to be a proper, detailed lookpost of what I wore when I went for a walk in the park with my friend, Diane, in Munich on Saturday morning. However, straight after this picture, the battery died. This always happens to me in once-in-a-lifetime moments. Like at crucial moments at weddings, when people depend on me for shots… It also happened when I went to an Arsenal vs. Fulham game, but at least I could watch the game better using my zoom lens as a telescope. In this case the battery was exhausted due to a fun filled day I had had prior at Oktoberfest 2012. I’ll be posting on that soon. I sprained my wrist really badly and couldn’t even use my fingers, hence the lack of posting.
Hope everyone has had an amazing week!
