Initially I had planned to wear a metallic pencil skirt I had worn for Eid when I was seventeen. Sadly, I do not have the same body I had when I was seventeen! Determined though, my mother made it about one size bigger, but then burnt a hole in it while ironing out the new seam. Feeling super guilty, she cut up a pair of her own black wide leg thai silk trousers, and quickly transformed it into this black pencil skirt, a mere hour before I had to leave the house!

Despite the stormy weather on Friday, I was determined to wear my strappy Zara heels, and basically all my outfit choices revolved around it. I’d bought them in Doha the day they put them on the shelves, super excited to be the first to own them, only to not wear them at all until now (mind you, I wore them to a wedding on Sunday too so perhaps now they need a break). Special thanks to my impromptu glam squad – Mom for her skills, Yasmina for my make-up and Bilqees for these photographs.

xx
