I wore this outfit to work recently and it’s not really me because maxi skirts often make me feel a bit frumpy, even though I like them on other people. Then for a long time I went through a serious anti-poloneck phase, they made me feel claustrophobic, but for some reason now they make me feel a bit like Audrey Hepburn… Or a swan. I find a lot of stores are selling really thin polonecks that are bad quality and ranging from R250 up, yet ironically I got this one at a Chinese clothing store for R100. So basically I never really felt like my typical self in this look. However, I couldn’t wait to wear these long gloves this winter which I picked up in London about a year ago, and along with my old faithful River Island boots and this vintage yellow belt, I had enough leather to make me feel like myself in these not-very-me threads.
Are there any items of clothing or colours you tend to avoid?
