I’m looking at my sad face and fake smiles in these pictures and remembering how terrible I felt that day, and how desperately I tried to hide it because I neeeeded to shoot new blog content. What was wrong? PMS. The Red Robot. Mother Nature. What else!?
I know some of you may be thinking why on earth is this girl talking about menstruation. Perhaps you think it’s gross or inappropriate or in poor taste. However, I beg to differ. I think in retrospect, pain, discomfort and gory details aside, men and women both shouldn’t get so awkward about the topic. I truly believe it is a beautiful experience that happens every month in a woman’s body. Think about it this very literal way; your body preps a holding room to carry a life in it. A life! Truly think about it – it’s a miracle. It makes us as women strong, and being a potential mother makes you a soldier by default. So don’t be hard on yourself or others when your period mood/pain kicks in. It only means your body is performing the most incredible and beneficial of all its functions, and sometimes we can’t cope with that goddess-like awesomeness.
That being said, my fake smiles are so funny in these pics, because I really was enduring an uncomfortable experience. And for anyone reading this, I’m sorry that I’m not sorry if you think I’m weird for bringing this up. And for the rest of you gorgeous women, make peace with what your body can do, and pour Aunt Rose a great big cup of tea while she’s here to visit.
