So after what was undoubtedly the best holiday ever, I’m finally sharing some of the images of the trip overall. Unlike, some of my other travel posts, these pics lack a lot of sartorial value because, simply put, I was having too much fun to care about the pictures being pretty! Many of them were taken on our phones, with one snapchat even making an appearance.
Malick and I started our journey to Phuket (you really don’t have to go here if you’re going to Thailand, honestly wish I’d listened to people who said this), and the best part of being there was our fantastic villa which we couldn’t fault on anything and going to Phuket Fantasea. Oh, and a spa day was awesome too!
We then made our way to the Phi Phi Islands, which (save for a huge spider in our room, Malick being bitten by a stray cat and a man fire dancing naked on the beach) was spectacular! We wish we stayed longer. I can honestly say the day we spent snorkelling and visiting neighbouring islands was truly one of the best days of my life. Who knew how much fun a life jacket is? I swam with one the entire time out of sheer laziness. After jumping off the boat into the middle of the ocean, seeing angel fish up close, kayaking and exploring uninhabited islands with turquoise waters, barely with a phone/camera in hand, I couldn’t help but think to myself “this is what it actually means to live.”
We then headed back to Phuket and took a flight to Bangkok, a city we’d both been quite a few times before. We sourced metal trims for Malick’s leather bags and shopped up a storm, as one does in that city! According to an app we have, we walked between 10 and 13kms when we were there. Combined with the constant humidity and sweating, I was skinny when we got home, ha! I even managed to tan a small little bit, your girl is too dark for her foundation these days. The only thing I regret is not seeing the King’s palace, but I chose a chestnut leather jacket over the R600 entry fee.
I can totally see myself going back to Thailand now that I’ve been to the islands. I’ve heard so much about Koh Samui, Koh Pangnan and Koh Tao. I’m sure many of you have been, what was your favourite part of your trip?
