In association with the House of Busby and Edcon group, Topshop/Topman Cape Town store opened its doors to the public at the V&A waterfront last week on 18 April, and invited us media folk for a preview the night before. It is the third branch to open in South Africa, the others being in Sandton City and Gateway Shopping Centre.
Coming back to an event like this, the opening of a prestigious brand on our shores after all my travels, I was pretty happy with what I saw. In comparison to all the other Topshops I have been to, I’d say our branch is doing pretty well. In addition to the store’s design and feel, I’ve recently seen some of our stock also just being brought in in other countries and can safely say we are on par with the rest of the world. Right on trend with cut-out ankle boots, chunky heels, dungarees, camo gear and tailored pieces, the store houses something for almost everyone while still maintaining a style signature to its brand. I’m obsessed with their accessories collection, and their extensive make-up range is home to some fantastic lip colours that I am quite a fan of.
Apparel aside, the Cape Town branch offers an exclusive complimentary personal shopping service, where in a designated and specially designed personal shopping area, customers will be assigned a personal shopper to assist them with their specific needs. The personal shopping menu includes options like the “Spoil Me” Birthday Booking, the Miracle Worker, the Mother and Daughter, and the Big Wow, among others.
I had an awesome night, and the event was perfectly-timed and more than appropriate because Aisha and I got to enjoy our 3 year “Friendiversary” there. If you’ve ever seen how we feed off each other and are the biggest goof balls at launches, you will understand the magnitude of happiness this calendar-coincidence brought us. Special thanks to Tegan Smith for her hand in some of the photographs!
Cheers.
