Yesterday at about 4pm Cape Town received the exciting news that we are still in the running to be declared 2014 World Design Capital. From 56 cities, Cape Town was one of the final three chosen, along with Dublin and Bilbao. The final decision will be announced in October 2011.
I am a patriot of note, and I know the potential my city and country has. Should we win the bid, it will also commemorate 20 years of our democracy (the end of Apartheid). I really hope we get it. We deserve it, and quite frankly I miss saying I’m from a country where there’s a world cup or something cool and worldly happening.
