It’s the most wonderful time of the year! At least it is in the Muslim calendar. With half of Ramadan month already gone, so the stresses of Eid seep in. From “what are you wearing?” to “where will you be eating?”, the typical Eid questions have undoubtedly started making their rounds but thankfully, I’ve got you covered with some ideas, girls! In this blog post there are three outfit ideas and if you watch the YouTube Eid lookbook video at the end, in there you will find two more ideas. All of these looks are from Canal Walk, but many of these items you can find around South Africa and other parts of the globe (except for the locally-designed pieces). I made sure I mostly included items that you can wear over and over again and won’t just hang in your closet. Keep reading for my thoughts on each and why you should consider them.

LOOK 1:
I’m so in love with the structured minimalism of these pieces. The absolute star of this ensemble is without a doubt these Rich Mnisi cropped trousers with its stunning pleated overlay. It’s such a unique yet versatile piece that you could wear both formally and casually. It’s modest-friendly and a local design too giving it two thumbs up from me! This H&M blouse is very slightly sheer and has the prettiest mild shimmer to it which gives it that understated Eid touch. Finally, I love how these accessories pulled the final look together; you can’t go wrong with a classic silk triangle scarf and I’m loving the subtly striking feel of this Chloe-inspired bag from Studio W, while these pointed mules are perfect for kicking off after your inevitable food coma hits on the day!

LOOK 2:
If you’re not planning on downing some crayfish curry on the day, this look may be for you (just kidding – no matter what I wear I always change into a thobe when it’s lunch time in case I mess!)
This look is probably my favorite of them all. The trousers and knit are both so chic, classic and versatile and together they make one elegant, Eid-worthy ensemble! By now many of you know I have a healthy obsession with paperbag trousers and nothing screams “expensive” like an all-white or cream-colored outfit. Coupled with hints of black brings a very Chanel feel. Then of course, these striking embroidered boots throw that whole Chanel-feel off balance, adding a fun and modern twist. These boots look and feel dressy because of their finish, making them perfect for the wintery Eid we are having in SA. They’re also a huge trend right now and promise to take your other looks to the next level too.

LOOK 3:
Suits, pleated skirts and red boots are all having serious moments in the fashion world right now in their own right, and they’re all perfect for a wintery Eid, whether worn together or apart. I noticed (and loved) how so many street style images from recent fashion weeks captured girls wearing belted oversized blazers with pleated skirts. In those instances, they completed their looks with everything from sneakers to heels and boots. I love this look because aside from being perfect for Eid, it would flatter pretty much every body shape, and can be worn for work or play. Once again, all pieces (except maybe the boots) are highly versatile, timeless and transitional between seasons so you wouldn’t have to consider this Eid look a formal waste.
